SG: The Government will make the first payment of the Temporary Employment Credit (TEC)1  to employers by 30 October 2015, to help them cope with higher wage costs arising from higher employer CPF contributions. More than 169,000 employers will receive a total of $356 million in TEC for the period of January to June 2015. Eligible employers will be notified from 6 October 2015.

The longest and most difficult leg of the Round the World Solar Flight attempted since last March by Swiss explorers Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg ended successfully in Hawaii. At the controls of Solar Impulse 2, pilot André Borschberg landed safely in Hawaii after flying 117 hours and 52 minutes over the Pacific Ocean from Japan powered only by the sun.

More than a century ago, scientists demonstrated that sleep supports the retention of memories of facts and events. Later studies have shown that slow-wave sleep, often referred to as deep sleep, is important for transforming fragile, recently formed memories into stable, long-term memories. Now, in a new article, researchers propose that deep sleep may also strengthen immunological memories of previously encountered pathogens.
