Taiwan had 420,000 jobless citizens in May 2015, equivalent to an unemployment rate of 3.62% which dropped 0.01pp on month and 0.23pp on year, according to statistics released by the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) on June 22.Taiwan’s population aged 15 and over stood at 19.823 million in May, consisting of 11.600 million for labor force and 8.223 million for non-labor force with a labor participation rate of 58.52%, DGBAS indicated.In May, Taiwan’s unemployment rate was lower than 10.5% in France, 6.8% in Canada, 5.5% in the US, 5.4% in the UK, , 4.7% in Germany, 3.7% in South Korea but higher than 3.3% in Japan, 3.2% in Hong Kong and 1.8% in Singapore, DGBAS said.
