At least 35% of the Malaysian workforce will be made up of skilled manpower by 2020. This is according to Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem, who said the country is “well on track” to achieving this number. Having more skilled workers would also help Malaysia “achieve the high-income nation status” by 2020, said Riot at the graduation ceremony of the 1Malaysia Globally Recognised Industry and Professional Certification Programme (1MalaysiaGRIP), where more than 300 participants are receiving their certificates for the completion of upskilling and reskilling courses.
